If you are like established neighborhoods where you are more likely to be awakened by singing birds instead of hammers and saws, then Laurel Hills, in Raleigh, NC, would be a good neighborhood to consider.
Located in the Northwestern area of Raleigh between Edwards Mill Road and Duraleigh Road, Laurel Hills is convenient to commuter highways I-440 and I-40, and downtown Raleigh, as well as other amenities like Crabtree Valley Mall shopping and restaurants.
The neighborhood is “split” into two sections, one with homes that are slightly newer built in the late 90’s to early 2000’s and the “Old” Laurel Hills section that features somewhat older homes that were built in the early to mid 1960’s. Both sections feature large wooded lots. The newer section features more two-story homes, while single story ranches that are mostly brick comprise much of the older section. Most of the homes have 3-4 bedrooms and 2+ full baths, with many of the homes featuring fireplaces and finished basements.
Mature trees and heavily wooded lots are typical.
Some of the older homes are being removed for construction of new homes. That fact is testimony to the desirability of the location.
